The Honey Pies
Con Amici Craft Bar
In late July I performed at Con Amici for the first time. It was a magical evening for The Dang-Its Trio (Matt Rodgers, Ruthie McQuinn), and I was left feeling as though I’d missed an opportunity by not contacting Con Amici sooner. There is something very special about the room and the vibe; it’s something I’ve been searching for at least since Roxbury Tavern changed hands several years ago, that is, a great, welcoming club with a knowledgeable, listening audience. My regret at not finding them sooner? Con Amici owners David and Nellie are selling the business, and although I’ve booked a few dates there through the end of the year, whether or not we’ll play those dates depends on if and when David and Nellie find a buyer, and if that buyer wishes to continue hosting live music.
So, I want to encourage all of our friends in the greater Baraboo area — and I know there are a few of you — to come out and hear The Honey Pies on this date and The Dang-Its Trio on Friday November 4. You’ve got a gem of a small, comfortable listening room right in your midst. I know long-time friends of The Dang-Its will enjoy my newer project, the Honey Pies, and it might make a difference in convincing new owners that hosting live music can work. That’s my hope. I want to play that room as often as they’ll have me.
